OK I would just like to add that it depends on where your taking the temperature.
If your taking it under the armpit then it is likely going to be off one degree below the actual reading you would get orally. If you take it analy then it will be one degree above the oral reading. 98.6 is a normal oral reading.

Try not to worry and dress baby to comfort. If your wearing light clothing then dress baby the same. Do not over dress.

Body temperature in a healthy, young person usually falls within 97.5 F (36.2 C) to 98.9 F (37.2 C). But it can vary during the day by as much as 1 or 2 degrees. It tends to be lowest in the morning, from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m., when the body is resting. It tends to be warmest in the late afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., after the body has been active for a while.

Did you take the temperature rectally or axillary?

If you took it rectally remember you have to subtract a degree from what you get and if you take it axillary you have to add a degree to what you got.

98.6 is normal, so, now that you checked him and it is 99, he is a little warm, I got four kids and sometimes they run a little fever now and then, not a big deal, if it gets over 100 maybe call and consult your pediatrician
