when i put a dvd-r disc in my computer says there is no disc in, My system is rewritable?

trying to burn movies that I have downloaded but the disc is not recognized, only when I put in a cd will it recognize it. It has a dvd rom

a dvd rom will only read cd's and dvd's you need to make sure you have a dvd burner check the cover of the drive or in my computer it will say something like dvd/cd-r, +rw or something to that effect if your drive is a -r or -rw do not try to use a +r or +rw disc it wont work and the other way around +r/+rw drives wont write -r/-rw discs they will read however also not all brands of media are compatable with all drves (which sux i know) you might have to try a different brand if you are using the right format

A few questions.. Have you ever been able to use a DVD-RW? Your drive could only be a DVD-R.

If you DO have a DVD-RW drive, then try uninstalling those drivers, then restart the computer and windows will automatically reinstall them. might just be a driver problem

If that doesnt fix it, call up your computer's manufacturer, and have them try to troubleshoot it, by having you reseat your DVD-RW drive, and check the SATA/PATA cables. If that doesnt work, they will replace the drive

Do u have DVD-RW drive?
may be cd is corrupted. if not, then try running lens cleaner. and lastly, try changing the data cables of the DVD-RW.

first is the writer a DVD writer, it could be a cd re writer, if it is then it will not write to a DVD disk
