Use moth balls, get a couple of boxes and pour them around the perimeter of what your growing and then from there make squares inside the rectangle. Moth balls keeps out snakes and insects

hose spray the trees a few times a day for a week or so
i had some in my daisies. i pick them and the kadydids out every day until there were none. they were eating the eyes out of my daisies like body snatchers...pesky bugs!!

Buy a trio of chickens. They LOVE (to eat) grasshoppers... -& their eggs probably won't go to waste, either! :)
