I was wondering what you guys think is the main flaw or main reason why the Edmonton Oilers are losing so many games and what you think they should do.

The Oilers traded the heart & soul of their franchise (Ryan Smyth). It was ugly and there is no way he is coming back this summer to Edmonton, no matter what the fans there want to believe. In my opinion, players are now thinking, if Smyth could be disposed of this easily and he was the face of this team, then am I next?

Ryan Smyth was possibly more of a fan favorite than Gretzky himself in Edmonton. I hate to put so much emphasis on one player but since that trade they have not won a game. It's not just a coincidence. Smyth was the heart of that franchise. The heart is gone. Unfortunatly for Kevin Lowe, he's probably the next one on his way out the door.

Ok, so other than losing one obvious impact player, the oilers lack a solid Defensive team. They have some fast young skaters but it's going to take a while to get them to be in the right places to turn defense into offense. Hopefully they hold onto the young players they have now and add a little more punch at wing and maybe pay a little to get a solid blue line defender.
I think goaldtending is solid, just not getting enough help from the rest of the team.

they have several key injuries in the last 2 months and have players playing with no NHL experience. you have Jason Smith with 862 games played so he has his experience to the rest of the Oilers defence with only 239 games played between them all not allot of experience if you ask me. but its a good thing in away cause if their wasn't as much injuries as the Oilers gotten this year and plus being out of the playoff race its giving this younger players the experience they need to play in the NHL. yes Ryan Smyth is gone and they went in a slump at that time but their where already out of the playoffs before the trade ever happend. like i said the Oilers had allot of injuries im not talking about the hole season key injuries that happened all at once and that really hurt them. like i said before with the experience of their defence is not good but allot of other young players coming up also up front like Pouliot with only 40 games, Stortini 25 games, Thoresen 62. this are all young players that had to jump up to a strugling team all year long. even with Smyth this team wasnt playing like they did the year before. and for the last 2 months they just can't score and Smyth cant do it all alone. and the Pronger thing hurt allot too.

Their flaw is that they have no Ryan Smyth, both physically and spiritually. Oilers traded him away to the Island and have completely tanked since.

It's gonna take rebuilding of some special kind for the team to rebuild after that.

They are in one of the toughest divisions in hockey.. with teams like Vancouver and Minnesota, and even Calgary who are on absolute fire. They have to play most of their games against the teams in the divisions because of the new rules (which is absolute bullshit).
The Ryan Smyth trade was big.. but it's also their other players like Joffrey Lupul who aren't stepping up to how they played last year.

The Curse of Ryan Smyth

I would assume that they are losing because they allow the opposing team to score more goals than the Oilers do, that is the usual reason

Due to the trades they have made, it all plays together, not sure how they did with injuries but I do know they are officially out of the playoffs for 07

They got rid of their best player in Ryan Smyth and Roloson isn't that good. They are losing because they suck.
