In 85, there was a choice of 5 transmissions. 3 automatics and 2 standards.
To find out which you have, check the sticker on the driver's door or pillar for the information. Under the heading of trans, there should be an rh number.
The choices of automatics are:
A727, light duty tagged 36rh or 37 rh
A940 normal duty tagged 30rh or 31 rh
A999 heavy duty tagged 32rh
Standards are A833 which is a 3 speed and the new process A435 which is the 4 speed.
