I think some of the hatred comes in recent years on the media's coverage of him in regards to when he'll retire.

"Will Brett Favre retire? What about Aaron Rodgers? Is this Brett Favre's final year/game/pass? Hey analysts! Talk about whether Favre should retire, and then decide for him! Should he retire, talking head?"

It's enough to make any person go insane if they were forced to watch that crap. Or at least hate Brett Favre because of that coverage.

Which is a shame, really. Favre's one of the best out there, and can still get the job done if he has an actual team around him.

I don't know - I think he's cool. I've only been a football fan for like 4 yrs (hated it all my life and now I'm obsessed w/ it) and the Packers are not my team but I love Brett Favre. I've watched specials on him and when he first started and everything and he is fun to watch. He is a damn good QB. I like his personality too. He's like a nice guy but don't mess w/ him cause he's not afraid and won't back down and he always tries his hardest to do everything possible to get that football down the field. The Packers are lucky to have had him so long. Isn't he like the QB that's played the longest too? I love him - I think hes awesome.

favre is by for a legend. rarely do his breed come around. he's the breed where they stay in until they cant lace up anymore.

personally, i feel brett is being held down with the packers. i think if they got him over to the arizona cardinals....wow that would be an unstopable team. myself im a bengals fan, but seeing favre with a team like the cardinals...he would be looking at a couple rings.

but to note, i say arizona because they have one of the best tandem receiving units in the league not to mention they have a good running back. warner obviously isnt doing it, leinhart needs a mentor, and warner obviously isnt the guy for the mentor job. you put favre in there, one you got a great offensive, and two, you have probably the best mentor for to a QB in the league.

I love Favre. The problem is that he is an old guy playing for a young team. Yes, he is one of the great all-time quarterbacks in NFL history but he has to call it quits some time. He is past his prime...

well i am not sure about top 5. his play over the last few years could be him or it could be his supporting staff. you can argue for both and be able to prove your point pretty well. it seems to me that for a few years he still thought he was 25, he was still a young gun slinger. and while he can gun sling with the best of them still, last year he started realizing that he is older. he slowed down and used his accuracy and relied less on his feet and more on his quick release, and pin point accuracy to get things done. he is not running around as much. i will say that the injuries in his career have started to take their toll but favre is one of the toughest sons a bitches to ever play in the NFL. i think he has the arm and the accuracy to get back to the super bowl if they can give him a supporting cast. and i would love to see it. he deserves it.

he has played through injuries, through the hardships of his father dying and his wife getting sick he has always lived up to what his contract told him he had to and always gone above and beyond what was expected of him. he is a true class act in the style of walter payton barry sanders, and only a handful of other players that have played since the advent of free agency. god im gonna miss him when he does retire.

I love Brett Favre.

In a game that has become a repository for thugs who got a free pass through college because they were big and could run fast, Brett is one of the few players who is worthy of emulation by America's youth. And not just as an athlete, but as a man. Brett is not without his faults, remember his pain-pill addiction, but it is how he deals with them that are worthy of remembering.

Is he past his prime? Maybe. Has the Green Bay organization failed in surrounding him with the type of players who can facilitate his facilitation of team success? YES. Did any of this make sense? I hope so.

1. Peyton Manning
2. Carson Palmer
3. Tom Brady
4. Drew Brees
5. Brett Favre

The number of interceptions he has thrown throughout his career has always been high. Hes still one of the best though. McNabb and Culpepper are out of the equation as of the last two seasons. Besides he has the worst o-line out of any quarterback mentioned.

Top 5? Ha! He's hurting the team. Retire and let the team move on. Not hating, just telling the truth. He had a great career, but it's over. Plus the top 5 QB's ever have multiple rings.

Most of them haven't come to terms with the fact that he's eclipsed Dan Marino, John Elway and Joe Montana in terms of career accomplishments.
