My father died a little over a year ago from brain cancer. While he was sick with it, I was in England doing mission work. Five days after I came home to the states, he died. I was unable to finish my mission work and ever since I've been working jobs that I hate and I keep finding that no matter what I change and what I try to do, nothing is happening that is leading me anywhere...

My condolences to you for the loss of your father. Mine died over 40 years ago and I'm resigned to the fact I will never, ever recover! I was in a knocked stupid state of mind for years after his death. Practically anyone could do anything to me..I didn't care! We all deal with death of a truely loved one in our own personalized way. Thank goodness for books and self help information because I finally woke up from the walking comotose and promptly began to forgive myself for the awful things I did and allowed during the deep mourning time. I had stopped coping. It was debilitating.. You're missing your dad something awful but when your mourning time is over, you'll know and you'll get back on your track of life and "be your normal ol self" again. Also it sounds like you were in the right place before the death. Consider going back? Maybe you're also missing those adorable Brits.

There are times that it feels as though the Lord has abandoned you. You feel as though you are not here. We cannot always have things feel right. We can go many many years feeling as you do. Just keep on doing your devotions and do not go astray. "Wait on the Lord be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart. Wait I say wait on the Lord." That verse among others has helped me to survive. Read Job and keep the faith, answers will come, just wait.
