A lot of the times, clients are uncooperative because they are
mad at the world for something, and you end up being the
one to catch it. Sometimes you can pick up on that and the
best way to cool them down is by moving the topic of discussion totally away from the reason they came to see
you. Get them talking about themselves and their problems.
Listen to them, and soon they will listen to you.

A lot of times people are uncooperative because they simply don't want to be where they are...or maybe they resent it...or maybe they resent your questions. Another diversion....if they
have children with them, make over them. Ask them about their health or ask them how their mother is doing. Show
concern and establish a relationship. A lot of times the
client will open up.

Then there are times when you can do nothing but bite
your tongue and be as professional as you can be. The
best thing to remember is ...never allow them to bring you
down to their level ... if they see they are getting to you,
the more uncooperative they will become.

People are interesting. Sometimes it helps to try to place
yourself in their situation to know where they are coming from and to know how to relate to them

Good luck and thank you for your question. It shows that
that you are striving to do your best to please your customers/clients. In other words, it's not just a job to you.
