i am looking to buy new system. my requirements are gaming i am not a hardcore gamer, some multimedia work and general Tv tuner recording etc. my question is should i buy core 2 duo 1.86 or i should spend more money and go with core 2 duo 2.0 or 2.4 ? will core 2 duo enough for my requirements ?

The E6300 is certainly enough for your needs.
TV recording will NOT be affected by a faster CPU since most all the processing required for that will be done by the onboard unit of the TV capture card.

The difference in speed from an E6300 to an E6400 or higher would be noticed when "converting" video file types in order to burn them on DVD (for example).

This is a very highly intensive CPU task & can easily take up to 90 minutes for the E6300 whereas perhaps closer to 75 minutes for the E6400.

If you can afford it I would go for the faster processor. You don't want to regret it later & if you calculate the difference over the lifespan of the PC (let's say 3 years) it only comes out to pennies per week.

You may also want to look at AMD. They offer much more for the money & an AMD X2 4600+ or higher is a fair match for the E6400.

go for Intels Core 2 Duo E6400 or E 6600

its depend on your computer OS. if your computer are using a lot of processing command better use intel 2 core duo 2.4.
i think the suitable processesor for your computer is intel 2 core duo 2.0. its better. my friends use almost same like you his computer use intel 2 core duo 1.6 and having slowing down of computer with windows vista.
