I am on a family plan with my parents and my sister. My sister says that it's not free to text w/o a plan even to other verizon customers unless you have a texting plan. Is he right that it's free?

No he is not right, not without a plan anyway. Verizon has a package for Unlimited "IN" text, pix, & flix... its $10 a month and includes unlimited verizon to verizon text, picture & video messages... i think it also has 500 messages to send or receive from non verizon phones. If you do not have this plan it is $0.15 to send OR receive a message

Text messaging is a service that is not included with any cell phone service. Basically in order to text message you will need to sign up for a text messaging package. If you don't have a text messaging package each message sent and receive will cost 15 cents each. Text messaging is not a free service.

For Verizon Wireless it cost an extra

$10 a month= unlimited text messages with other Verizon Customers and 500 additional text messages with other cell phone carriers. Or

$15 a month= unlimited text messages with other Verizon Customers and 1,000 additional text messages with other cell phone carriers.

$20 a month = unlimited text messages with other Verizon Customers and 2,500 additional text messages with other cell phone carriers.

you ought to have some thing on your settlement that's call "In-Texting", i've got confidence. My husband and that i've got 500 (i think of) texts, and countless texts/photographs/flix to different Verizon clientele. you ought to speak to a Verizon rep and discover out for particular what's on your settlement. until eventually then, i might advise performing like they are actually not unfastened, so which you do not rack up greater effective costs.
