nope.
People who do that are intellectually and emotionally insecure. It fits in with stuffing a zuchinni down the front of your pants, driving around in an expensive sports car, or talking incessantly on your cell phone in public.....trying to look bigger and more important than you really are, but actually coming across like a pretentious doofus. Trust me, I went through that phase many years ago and am glad to have done away with it. Plain simple talk is bliss, to give and receive.

no, I'm the one that has a hard time understanding the 'big words'. I have a friend that was a college professor and a nother that was a psychiatrist and they are always using words that I've never heard of before. I have actually taken a dictionary with me to Bible study so I can look words up. But then I don't even know how to spell them. lol At home I have a dictionary next to my computer & I must open it a dozen times a day or use the one online. My son is in 6th grade and is sick of me correcting his grammar but now I've notice him asking more and more what words mean.
Problem is is that I remember that word long enough to understand what they are talking about or what I am currently reading. But tomorrow I have no idea what it meant. Short-term memory I guess...lol

I've always been a believer in plain speaking. Even though I am college educated and have a large vocabulary. I think that most people look at people who use large words as being somewhat stilted and artificial, and trying to "show off".
If the main object of conversing is communication, you're not going to accomplish that by having people scratch their heads wondering what you're saying.....

I love using big words that make people look small. I only do it if I know the meaning though otherwise it makes you look really stupid. It really annoys me when I catch people doing it.

In manner of speaking I do derive a certain amount to derisive fullfillment from this daily exercise in futility.
