Honey its ok!!! Just start buying a larger size diaper and bigger clothing. My children were always big :D At about 10 months when they started crusing they got taller and slimmer.
There are car seats that face backwards for larger children. What ever you do keep him facing backwards for the whole year. Children that are forward facing to early face the chances of having their spinal cord snaped in the event of a wreck..
I found our backwards facing car seat at toys r us. I will find you a couple of links on seats facing backwards for bigger kids that will also turn around for when they are older.

My son is also 4 months old and weighs 17 pounds. Hes in size 3 diapers as well. (Pampers - I think they are stretchier) He is also in 6-9 months clothes now. This is my 4th boy and he is the chubbiest of them all. (and cutest - lol) I also know of someone who has a 4 month old boy who is over 20 lbs and is wearing 12 - 18 months clothes. So dont worry as long as he reaches his developemental milestones when he needs to then Im sure everything is fine. When he starts running around he will probably thin out. As for the car seat issue, most brands offer a convertible car seat that faces backwards and then turns forward for when they are a year old. I have 2 Alpha Omega ones that I got for my twins that are convertibles.

my son is also big for his size but that was due to the gene. by hubby is really a big (not fat) man and we both come from a long line of huge ppl. if he is too big for 4months size stuff then just use 6 or 9 month size stuff. no need to get frustrated. some carseats for toddlers are able to recline to a almost lying down position so you might wanna invest in a good on. Maxi cosi is not bad in design and comfort.

for diapers, my son started on diaper-pants at 4months coz the normal tape diapers are not a good fit anymore. pampers are a good brand for comfort although may be a bit expensive. clothes just buy a few size bigger, anyway babies look cute in over sized shirts.

the thing is, dun freak out, an try to make changes to suit your baby OK, it not his fault that he gonna grow up a hulk one day.

My son was huge, too. I can't remember how much he weighed, but he grew out of his infant car seat by 4 or 5 months, because he was so long. Anyway, he is 2 1/2 now and weighs 32 pounds, and about 38 inches tall. Still big! I would just make sure his height and weight are proportional to each other. If he is 99 percentile in each, no worries!

My son is almost 3 and he is about the size of my 5 yr old. He's what I call solid. Not fat. He's almost 40 lbs. I know the clothes, diapers and seat issues can be frustrating but if there weren't big kids like ours and little kids like some others out there, there would not be an average to compare our kids to.

My oldest son was born two weeks early and was 9 1/2 pounds. He was so big his first year that the doctors chart for charting his height / weight.....he was off the chart!
When I took him for baby pictures at the age of 3 months, the photographer kept trying to make him sit up and turned to me and asked if something was wrong with him because he couldn't sit up. I told the lady he was only 3 months old and she was so suprised, she thought he was close to a year old.

I was very worried about him. He finally slowed down after his first year.

Make sure he is eating healthy and not eating junk food. And make sure he gets plenty of physical activity

Your baby is just fine. If he is too large for his carseat get a bigger one I doubt he is TOO big, even if he is the size of a 8 month old, my daughter is 9 months and still fits in the carseats. My friends baby is also four maybe five months and as big as my daughter. Dont stress enjoy that big bundle of joy!
