Is a safety issue. You see the more you know the safer you are. Think about it. In other to drive it is nice to know the dangers associated with it. For example, drinking and driving. When you are going to give birth you may want to do research on the subject to see what is normal and what is not and what complications may arise. If you want to be a scuba diver you have to take classes. This is to keep you safe from the bends. If you want to be an electrician or work with electricity you want know the things to do and not to do. If you want to become a fire fighter you will want to know about the proper way and the improper ways to fight fire. For example, electrical fires are dealt differently than regular fires or chemical fires. Different dangers associated with them

In short the more you know about something the safer you will be. Knowledge is a good thing not a bad thing. The question is why would sex be any different. Why is sex the exception to the rule? It isn't. it is all in people head. If you where telling me that they where going to pop in a couple of triple x movies then I would complaint. Sex education is not about how to have sex but how the reproductive system works and what kind of diseases you can get. The excuse that the religious people always come up with is that we are giving kids permision to have sex. That is a really bad excuse. Think about it. When in human history has anybody asked their parents permision to have sex. NEVER!!! if kids are going to have sex they will do it reagardles of who says what. It is human nature to have sex. I think the more knowledge kids or anybody for that matter have the better they will be. You have to teach them about preganancy. You have to teach them about sexually transmited diseases. They have to know that they exist, and that they can get it. They also need to know how they can get them and how will this affect them. It is ahealth issue not a moral one. As a matter of fact it is in moral to withhold this information. Abstaning information is just as bad as lying. If you where in charge of a project and you knew there where some safety issues and you kept your mouth shut, you would be liable. Your lack of comunication can cause a lot of people grief money and in some cases death. The same thing can be said about sexual education.

I think accurate, informative sex education is extremely important in any country. After all, not knowing about sex clearly doesn't stop people from doing it anyway; however it does place them at higher risk. It's plain scary how many people think wearing two condoms at once is twice as safe as one [two condoms = extra friction = substantially increased chance of breakage].

Many conservatives, especially religious ones, seem convinced that if they just keep saying 'Don't have sex' eventually people will listen. The extraordinarily high rates of pregnancy and STDs in American school districts that teach abstinence-only sex 'education' have more than proved them wrong.

I do think that if someone doesn't want to hear about it, that should be a matter of choice. No one should be forced into situations that make them uncomfortable. I don't think sex education absolutely has to be mandatory, but I do believe it should be a readily available option. Most hormonally-charged teenagers are more than willing to listen if only someone would teach them.

It's taught in the US (although you may not like us, we have pretty good education). So, it should be taught there. We have private schools here that teach "Family Life" which is a form of sex ed, except God is involved with his "Gift Giving" and such.
