Is it time to end affermative action & allow white males & families to be treated equal to minorities?

White males fought their own blood relatives so that Black Americans would attain Freedom & Equal Rights. They truly believed The Words Of Our Constation and other Great Documents written by Our Great Founding Forefathers.

I wish that there was no box for race to be checked on job applications and there could be a buffer so the employer could not even see the applicants skin color. I wish jobs were given on merit only. Same thing for housing.

From what I remember, affirmative action provides incentives to employers to hire the minorities they target. This balances it against whites. I know quotas did exist... I do not know if they still do.

I do not fully agree with all of the aspects of affirmative action but see no way out. If it is eliminated, does the racist discrimination against minorities return to its previous level?

Affirmative action applies to more than jobs.

I believe in such as the funds that minorities get for college because many are not terribly wealthy and are this way NOT by their design or personal lacks. There are plenty of grants for whites as well. I would prefer the grants to be handed out, however, to PEOPLE deserving of them, not certain members of a race. Base it solely on economic situation and GPA. That is not going to occur. What we have now is the only option available.

I can tell you something, however. Affirmative action targets and helps a FEW minorities, not all. Not nearly all.

I can tell you of one: Romani ("Gypsies").

If a Romani goes to get a job and is identified as a Gypsy, s/he is often turned down because "all Gypsies steal". We are also turned down for housing for the same reason. There are no college grants for us, or anything else. There are no protective agencies for us to apply to to combat discrimination and we are followed in stores openly because, again, "Gypsies steal". Beating a Romani because s/he is a Romani is not a hate crime because we are not a "race", rather we are an "ethnicity" and a rarely recognized one at that.

We are one of the minorities who are not helped by affirmative action.

Affirmative action is great... if it is needed and if it works for EVERYBODY without harming anybody.

Can this be fixed? Who knows.

However, it needs an overhaul.

Do you know what affirmative action actually is? With affirmative action, white males ARE treated equal to minorities. Many people do not understand what affirmative action really means. It means that minorities are given the same opportunities for a job as everyone else (ex, white males). For example, it means advertising jobs in places where not only white males would see them, for example, the inner city. Affirmative action does NOT mean that minorities are chosen for a position over non-minorities because of their race, all other factors (ie qualifications) being equal. Because many don't understand what it is, some don't use it in the proper sense. It simply means that companies reach out to minorities to inform them about job opportunities, and it ends there. People mistake affirmative action as companies needing to meet a "quota" and hire a certain number of different races, but that's not what it is at all. I hope this helps clarify it.

Its very disputed wheter the civil war was truly about freeing the slaves, but about trying to keep the south from seceding from the union. Affirmative action also includes white women, who are not a minority but outnumber white men. White women continue to complain about unfair job conditions which include unequal pay and glass ceilings. If this is true and white women aren't just complaining because 'they want something for nothing' or 'or want everything handed to them' and are discriminated against by white men, then how is it possible that "minorities" aren't discriminated against. Back to the 'civil war' if the north truly were fighting to free the slaves and thought they were/should be treated equal and just as capable human beings as them, why didn't they want black men fighting alongside them?

i don't understand it someone has a lot decision in the adventure that they fall in love. reason is going out the window. no matter if there is an intense distinction in a while, there is wish for happiness. a number of study were executed on could-December romances, and positioned that distinction in a while had a lot less result on marriage than different issues. It would not make experience to me, yet study is study; and age distinction does no longer have a lot to do with marriages. in my opinion, i do not imagine i could opt for to have a relation deliver with a smooth lady or an previous lady. 5 or ten years distinction could many times be ok. If one human beings is 30, and the different 20, it can in all likelihood sense good about me. yet, i could shun any relation deliver with a 16 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous lady if I were 26. yet, like I stated interior the starting up, one wouldn't have a lot decision in the adventure that they fall in love.

Why does everybody think the Civil War was fought to free the slaves? Wasn't that only a very small percent if any of the reason? I could've sworn we learned that it was fought because of the secession of the Southern states from the Union.

Well if you are white, you have clearly gone to an inner city school... OOOOOOO Zing! See that is a joke because most inner city schools barely teach their kids how to read and write, and your question was so filled with errors I cried.

Do you actually know anything about Affirmative action, it helps almost no one. A company has to huge to even be held by it's standards. Do a little research next time before posting your questions.

Now I happen to agree that racism in America only relates to whites doing stuff to other races and whites do not get equal consideration. I think this is a bunch of bull, but this country still Freakin Rules. Where else can you get raging high speed wireless internet.
