I dream throughout my sleep. Let me preface this by stating I know about REM sleep and the cycles of sleep, etc. Doesn't work like that with me--not for quite awhile. From the moment my head hits the pillow I am already in an internal monologue, which trancends into dreaming.
I have woke up throughout the night several times dreaming a certain dream and it continues each time I fall back to sleep.
My dream life almost challenges my real life. I vivdly remember each dream. Most dreams involve family or friends in some capacity-some are romantic, some are of a same quasi-real place, many are of me on a mission to find something or be somewhere in a hurry. I always seem to be convincing someone of something in my dreams. Thank goodness my dreams aren't scary or violent, though many times the feeling is that I have to do something or there will be dire consequences. Bottom line is I don't get a lot of restful sleep. My mind never rests. Anyone similiar? Any thoughts?

Oh--and I am a night owl. I usually don't get to bed until 2am - many times later. I think best and am most creative at night.

Dreams can be a blessing or a curse. I dream frequently and I tend to re\amble in my thoughts especially before bed. It sounds like your mind never rests which is why you don't feel rested. Your mind is working hard to work out your anxieties. Like you pressure yourself so much it forces its way into your dreams. One way that helps me is to write out (on computer or paper your thoughts a half an hour before you want to go to bed (not when you exhaust yourself at 2 am). Sometimes it helps to get the thoughts out of your head. The other thing that has helped me a lot is doing deep breathing and closing my eyes and picturing darkness and trying to blank out my mind. At first, I sucked at this but now when I want to I can force myself to sleep. However, I must admit when my anxiety is too high an ambien helps me to knock off.
Also, try not to push yourself so hard. Which of course is easier said than done. I hope this helps.

Yes, I have similar dream patterns, although I must say that I don't awaken to a dream every morning. The most prominent thing that stands out to me about your dreams are your feeling or urgency to do something or something dire will happen, combined with trying to get somewhere quickly, and trying to convince someone in your dreams.
My guess is that you are very active, always on the go, never feel like there is enough time to get things done, and if you slow down, things will fall apart in some way. You also say you are trying to convice, not that you are successful in this quest... an assumption on my part, just from how you stated your qestion.
Possibly it relates to the type of work you do, or that you feel, or afraid that people don't take you serioulsy enough in the real world. Also, it seems that these dreams are rather consistent and your dreams often have similiar themes to them, which suggests that you are working through these issues.
As an example, I had a series of dreams over several years, where i would be falling from a very high place, often by a bird, and I would hit the ground and die. At first, i would wake up before I hit the ground but I knew I was dead, and as the dreams progressed, i would sleep through the hitting the ground and dying. As time went on, I would hit the ground and not die, because I would hit something soft. Then i would simply be stronger and survive the fall, then I would be picked up at the last minute by a bird or some animal and not hit the ground. This series of dreams occured over several years, and progressed to the point that I would be dropped, but there was a rope or ladder that I would land on or grab and have to climb... higher and higher as the years went on, and now I don't have those series of dreams any more.
Another thing, my mind rarely rests... people often tell me I think too much or look too deeply into things, but that is simply how I am... somethimes it is frustrating to me because I only rarely relax with my thoughts, not to say that they are racing, but I am often thinking about a problem, situation, the present, future, past etc., not just sitting at the clouds and thinking about what they look like and watch them change shape.
You asked a very good question and I hope this was somewhat helpful... at the very least you know that you are not alone and I would think that there are many people who have similliar dream patterns like us. Dream well tonight.

I am also one of you. I dream very frequently and many times the dreams unfold as if a continuation of a series just like in the movie or story book. But what actually freak me out is that sometimes my dreams / nightmares materialized. For example, there are times in the past whereby I dreamt of someone passed away and it really happened ,not once but a few times. And the weird thing is that the person is not even someone I know or seen personally, it is like a friend's relative or so. Scary right ? And many times I had recurring dream of the same place and it seem so familiar, but in actual fact, I have not been there at all in real life. Some people say that dream is something in your subconscious , i really do not know if I should agree.

I am the same way. I wake up very tired. It takes alot of hours of sleep to achieve rest. I am always thinking and this thinking or inner talking usually turns into a dream. I also fall asleep immediately, which people find strange. I actually get better sleep when I turn on music not the TV. I focus on the music and 'dream' less.

That's very similar to how my dream life runs, too.
I have the self-storytelling in my head, then I instantly start dreaming.
I also wake very tired in the morning.
I have read alot on REM sleep and Astral travel, and the articles generally conclude that if the dreams are very vivid and you awaken tired, you may be traveling astrally at night.
Fascinating stuff, but not too definitive.
Good luck

i am a dreamer too... i dream almost everyday and i kind of get tired of dreaming those "trash dreams" dreams that emanate from what we just perceived by our 5 senses before sleeping. but i dont wake up not having restful sleep, i still do despite of that. i think its becausae i am a very spiritual person so i know by orientation how the dream works...and i could identify what dream are those with significance. some of these have meaning, and can speak of past, present, even future (depends on level of your spirituality). recurring themes in dreams could mean unresolved issues or repressed desires, longings. well sometimes previous engagement in occults, charms and magics can cause these kinds of dreams (like yours). cant really explain as for you since i dont know your background. anyway, offer them to God, He will guide you for your dream life. :)
