I had the injection a little over a week ago. I was wondering how long it takes to have it's affect?

When I used to work in women's health, the doctor told me that it works instantly as a reliable method of birth control.

Let me look that up real quick to verify it...

I was wrong, this site says it takes 24 hours to be effective.
Best check with your doctor to be sure, though.
Don't forget to get the followup injections every three months within the timeline specified by your doctor (usually you have a week window to get the injection) or else you run the risk of pregnancy, and you usually have to get pregnancy tests before they let you have the shot again.

Hope this helps...
