I recently asked a beautiful young women of 25, that if she and I had first met, and if neither of us had our present wedding rings on our present fingers, and if I were to presently ask her out for a cup of coffee, might she be open to the idea?
She flashed a gorgeous smile, and said "Yes, I would be."
Then I asked her, would it make a difference, knowing that I was 46. I will always remember what she said next.
"No, but my father and mother were 17 years apart."
I thanked her for her candor, and understanding. I told her that my query was due to my concern over having divulged my age to a young lady, and I was anxious that I may have lost a precious opportunity to get to know her.
The young married woman to whom I was presently speaking replied, "Perhaps, but those are the kind of details that a woman would prefer to know up-front."
I pondered the perspective and honesty of her responses.
Be honest. Be real. Allow for and respect one anothers choices.
She obviously had no prejudices regarding older husband/younger wife relationships, for she had seen it work for HER parents.
I know that there are SO many challenges and obstacles that arise in a marriage, that the rate of divorce is about 50 % in the U.S.
Consider also, that the changes in one's personal growth is greater from 20 to 30, then from 30 to 40. Yet the changes that MAY be made from 40 - 50 can be SIGNIFICANT, if sufficient courage is present.
Growth happens when you persist against opposition, insistent upon obtaining your heart's True desire.
By the gods of Olympus, 40-45, and 18-24 have MUCH in common. If there is mutual attraction, and mutual interest, then LET THERE BE LOVE.
Damn the torpedos, Damn the Yankees, and Damn the Greek army of Alexander the Great.
(DAMN, there are too many damn fools....)

Definately not. They have nothing in common, and she is still a teenager! Why would she want to be with someone who is old enough to be her father? What do they talk about? Or is this just a relationship based on sex? Encourage her to spend some time getting to know herself, and then she can find someone who is a better match. We all know why he is with an 18 year old. She needs to wake up and realize that he is using her. Neither would admit to that, but it is the truth, and the truth hurts.

Is he adopting her. That might work. He is more than twice her age. She is too young for a relationship with a 41 year old.

It will-for a while. Not long term like for 10 yrs or more. That is a May/December romance. I know a man who married a gal about 36 yrs. age difference (her younger), and he told me once that knowing what he does now, he would not do that again. Too much of a spread in age and maturity level.

It's not very likely to have a happy ending. She's just barely legal and probably needs to experience life more before settling down. Not to mention the age difference, how much can they really have in common (besides likely being his daughter's school mate)? This seems very American Beauty to me. If you haven't seen the movie "American Beauty" go get it,now.

who knows for sure..I'm sure most people will be disgusted at the age factor but they all forget back in the 1800's and before older men married girls as young as 16 years old and it wasn't frowned upon..it was seen as a good marriage. Anna Nicole was married to an old guy who loved her..if she can deal with the frowns of disgust from strangers who knows.

It might. Are either one looking for a way into our country? Does he have money that she wants?
Heck, maybe things will be fine and the'll end up happily ever after.

He's old enough to be her father. Although I wouldn't support a relationship with such a HUGE age difference, they say love knows no age.

It'll work for her if he's got lots of money, a good health insurance policy, lots of Viagra, and a bad ticker so she'll get the money when he dies. (But he'll go with a smile on his face.)
