The UN is a joke of the largest scale. They take action only when the media makes them on any issue. If the American media makes it a big deal, they make it a big deal. Everyone else feeds off the American media so if they ain't reporting it, chances are, no one else of any consiquence is either.

Should they, yes in some instances they should, in others they need to shut the H3!! up. They condemn the US for "rights abuses" in Gitmo, but all the thousands being slaughtered in Africa is ok. They condemn the US for taking pictures of naked people, but real torture by other countries where they make people stand in water while shocking them or cutting off fingers and toes until they talk... or just beheading them... well that's ok. The UN is a joke and they need to wake up to the fact that many of us in the world have already woken up to that fact.

I think that the Unitd Nations has gotten away from the original Idea that formed it, It has become a useless corrupt organization, The 15 resolutions that Sadaam Hussein ignored is a perfesct example, now they are threatening Iran with more resolutions big deal

The UN has neither the economic or military muscle to do anymore than wring its hands and say "Ain't it awful" regarding human rights.

If the UN gets into human rights abuses where is the boundary at which we say minor abuses are OK but major ones are intolerable? Who makes up the definition of Abuse?

Remember, if the definition of abuse is too broad, the US would have some tough questions to answer about the way the poorest and weakest of its citizens are treated.

Absolutely not. I am adamantly opposed to the violation of human rights, but therein lies my opposition to the UN. The UN should do nothing but dissolve itself and give up its treacherous quest to unite the globe under a single flag. The UN, by its very existence, is striving to establish the most complete violation of human rights that this world has ever seen, namely the abolition of all individual and national sovereignty.

The only thing the UN stands for , is when they stand to leave their office. they are a joke , I say we stand up ,and demand the UN be shut down ,and made to repay every dollar given to them . You have a better chance to get Ringling Brothers to stand up for a cause than you do the bunch of UN bullsh*tters

It doesn't matter what the United Nations does, cause no one listens to them anyway.
