You've got to be really fast to be first on a good question.
If I know lots of people are going to be posting an answer, I will submit an answer with a single letter or phrase (typed off really quickly), and then actually answer the question using the "edit answer" button.

It would be a waste of time if you were just answering the question for someone else. But if you pick judiciously, you can answer a question both for the someone else and also for yourself.
Then, you get a chance to think and maybe think deeply. That's a nice opportunity.

Isn't it obvious that several others are typing at the same time as you and they submit before you do? It doesn't seem copied because everyone knows that this happens.

Why delete your answer? I leave it, maybe if they see more than one of a certain answere they will be more than likely to go with that one.
