Depends on how long you would like to avoid getting pregnant for. They have a new thing out there that they put into your arm, and you will be protected for 5 years. Dep-Provera is what worked well for me. It's and injection that you only have to get once every three months, and normally it makes your period go away also, (but sometimes that can take a while, just stick with it. i bled for a full month after getting on it, but then i never had another perio the whole 2 years i was on it! It was totally worth it.) If u are anemic or have thin blood then it would be pretty safe to take the pills or the patch, but if you are prone to blod clots DO NOT take either one, they enhance that risk, and it can be fatal. Well, i hope this helps! Good luck girlie!

i would say it depends on what your intentions are. if you don't ever want to have kids then either get a tubal ligation (your tubes tied), or have your husband/partner get a vasectomy.
birth control pill is most effective, but only if you take it as prescribed (need to take it every day).
you can look into an IUD or depo-provera shots as well. i have never used either though so can't help there.
i would actually suggest you sit down with your doctor or gynecologist and discuss your options with him or her. they will know your medical history and if there are reasons you should not be using some methods of birth control
(for example, you should not use the pill if you have had blood clots in the past)

Do not try the pull out method like the fool above suggested. It does NOT work. The pill is good if you're good at remembering to take it everyday. If you're not there is the depo shot. There's IUD's. And there's the NuvaRing...but I know of a lot of women who have gotten pregnant on that...so maybe using that isn't sucha good idea.

the pill works well but there's many options and they all work differently with every woman...i few options are the patch, IUD, Depo shot , Nuva ring and probably a few more....
and Raven...pulling out is not an effective contraceptive about 40% if i remember right

Here are the first questions i would ask you if you came to see me for help.
How well will it fit into your lifestyle?
How convenient will it be?
How effective will it be?
How safe will it be?
How affordable will it be?
How reversible will it be?
Will it protect against sexually transmitted infections?
After you answered these questions we would talk about your health history.
Then you would decide what is best for you.

I would recommend you talk to your doctor about your options and to decide what's best for you because just about everything you do will have some sort of side effects

If you are trying to avoid pregnancy, the pill is good. It's what I would take.
