Ok hears the thing....My mom has a friend named John and he tells us alot of things that are out of the norm, like spells and things to do and he teachs us how to astral travel and move things with energy, anyway, he told me that if you put a mirror under water you will see spirits of the other realm and then the glass may shatter!
I was wondering if any of you have done this and if you have how do you do it?

I use and recommend salt and a mirror to check a house for spirits, but I've never heard of one used the way you're describing.

As someone who works with energy and has been around lots of spiritual things, this John guy sounds like someone I used to know who loved to try to impress people with halftruths for shock value. He sounds like he knows a bit about metaphysics but is having more fun telling stories to people who don't know much about it - therefore he sounds like the guru.

Astral travel takes practice. Moving things with energy takes a very spiritually advanced person with a clear mind and an understanding of energy and how matter vibrates, along with the mental conditioning to believe that mind can manipulate matter. It's a long process and if you haven't seen this person manipulate physical objects or tested him on knowledge he brings back from the astral field - than he is full of it.

If you want to know if he can travel astrally, tell him when you're at home and he's not around, you'll set a special object that only you know what it is in a certain place like the kitchen table. Only you should know what object you placed there and no one else. If he can come back in a day or two and tell you what you put there than he has that ability and is qualified to try to teach you how to travel that way.

Ask to see him move things with energy. Prove it.

Anyway, the mirror thing sounds to me like a form of scrying. But the results you would get wouldn't be limited to visions of spirits, you could get visions of future events or other psychic information. As for the mirror shattering, I don't see why it would do that. What reason would a mirror have to shatter for, all it is is a tool to open up your own psychic abilities. It has nothing to do with the actual mirror. It can be done with any reflective surface. I think this guy is reveling in an audience too much and it not spiritually healthy.

The ancients attributed mystic powers to any reflective surface, because the reflection was considered part of the soul. Heavy taboos were laid on the act of disturbing water into which a person was gazing, because shattering the image meant danger to the soul. Hence the similar taboo on breaking a mirror. Water represented the Abyss, the numinous hidden spirit world. Its reflections could therefore be read as shadows cast ahead by future events.

Let me see now, if you are holding a glass of scotch and looking in the mirror your reflection is NOT holding a glass of vodka, whether the mirror is underwater or not
