I dont know the numbers, but xbox 360 and the wii have both out sold the ps3 thus far.

I'ld say they did pretty bad. Not only did they make the first release a horrible shortage that actually caused people to be mugged,shot, ect. They really only have about two or three main titles going for them. As an example, go to gamefaqs.com and the top 10 games for PS3 in terms of people looking at it. More then half aren't even out yet. The PS3 is riding completely on speculation of what "could be" and not what it already has. Also, if Sony keeps losing exclusives to Xbox, there will be little reason to spend the extra 200 bucks.

In short - Yes they have done completely horrible. Especially in North America. In fact, both the Wii and Xboxb 360 gaming consoles have had problems their first few months with producing enough to keep up with the demand. Sony's Playstation 3 on the other hand has done quite the opposite. There have been many stores where I see them still sitting on the shelf. Sony has even spread fake rumors about their success.

Yes the launch of the PS3 has been one big screw up for sure. They overcomplicated the system with bells and whistles no one cared about, then they priced for two time as much as the other systems. They also did not release there system with any big games like mgs or metroid. It has a chance to be a good system but right now they are way behind.

From an article I read, and I'm sorry I don't remember the source, Sony is about where they thought they would be on the sales of the PS3, though they aren't as good as Wii's.

coz if they delay it again
then the 360 will kill
the PS3
coz
the 360's price is already half the ps3
so if theyll delay it more
the price will drop again
so
everyone will buy the 360
:P
