Why are so many americans fat?

Where I was born, people would get thrown of cliffs if they were lazy or deformed.

Increasingly sedentary lifestyles.
Increase in processed foods.
High calorie foods.

By the way I hear that obesity is making its way into other nations as well (as their wealth increases).

Cordially,

Yeah it is pretty disgusting but it is a reflection of the times we are in. We live with an abundance of food and mainstream marketing schemes that only market the unhealthy fattening fast foods. We are very inactive. In Europe people bike all over the place. Many many people have bikes instead of a car..over here we drive to a destination that is 2 blocks away..and then just to go get a case of beer. Also I think that the thin ideal and the fitness ideal, actually creates more fat people...because people yoyo and then slow their metabolisms down...or else they think they will never reach that so they just punish themselves with more food. I don't know the answer but I see grossly obese people all the freakin' time. I do not mean to be rude, but it is offensive. And then their kids are obese too and they are still buying the same crap at the grocery store. It's like hello!!! This is not working!!! I guess it's just a lot of things.

Well I am very sorry for your country. The truth is Americans have a choice and some choose to not be healthy. One major problem is that restaurant food portions are huge and that flows over into your daily life because normal portions of food dont make you feel full anymore. Also the food is so bad for you.

Are all Europeans judgmental? genuinely no longer. having stated that what's fat to one guy or woman is to no longer a different. nonetheless others have medical themes. individuals are all fat in case you base your assumptions on the Olsen twins. (length 0 or something close to that). having stated that so is the the remainder of the international that's no longer ravenous their butt off. As for lazy, why is it that us of a for the final one hundred plus years might desire to deliver our adult adult males and females over seas to freshen up wars and dictators?

Because we Americans live to eat instead of eating to live.
We have food associated with bringing happiness. We love all the high calorie, fatty foods.

laziness and OVERSIZED portions in america lead to obesity AND many diseases such as cardiovascular (heart) disease and diabetes. Americans are so overwhelmed with portion size that they tend to over eat and not exercise.
