Guitars are like anything else. There are models that accommodate almost any budget. Go to a good music store and ask for help. It really depends on how serious you are about learning to play... I can tell you from experience, the better guitar you can afford, the better your learning will be. If you sound awful when you practice you will be less likely to stay focused and excited. I am more into electric guitars but I believe that the same holds true for acoustic instruments. I paid $450 for my first guitar... a year later I went back and bought a Gibson for about $1200... you don't need to come close to that but buy the best you can afford. Good Luck.

If I was to go out and buy an acoustic-electric guitar right now, I would get the Fender Acoustic Electric Guitar . The action on this guitar is incredible and the sound quality, with and without an amplifier, is just awesome. The Fender Acoustic Electric Guitaris currently on sale for $269.99 (list: $385.70 ) at Gibson Guitar Sale ( http://download-sheet-music-online.com/gibson-guitar-sale.html ).
If you are going to learn how to play guitar on your own, I would suggest you learn to play songs you really like. You can download guitar lessons which will show you the correct fingerings, guitar strum patterns and interactive guitar tab on a fretboard display, as you listen to the song being played. Umm,if I was you id go down to a music store and check a few out, preferably with someone,a friend maybe, that can help you choose.

I would pay between 150-200 dollars

Yamaha's are nice,I have an epiphone acoustic

Other nice brands that arent way out of line in price are takamine and ibanez

Learning takes at least a good month before you master the basic chords, get a simple beginners book when you get your guitar.

Good luck

going with a gibson is going to cost you some bucks, but will retain its value, in fact it will gain value over the years if kept in good condition with the orig case, however the yamaha is a well respected company that for the most part makes the best bang for your buck entry level guitars(my fist guitar was a yamaha).in short unless money is no object i would go with a yamaha. yamaha(150-500) gibson(600-3000)...good luck and happy strumming!!!!

$200 at least for a decent one. Guitar takes a little bit of practice to learn well. Generally I would say you start to play decent tunes after about a year with constant practice. After that you can learn cool tricks etc. Hope that helped.
