You are asking if Thief entered my home what I should do? it means you did not prepare for security. In the same way now a days computer need more security than before.
OK just assume you did not had anti virus software installed and you got virus, but how did you know you got virus, then if it a normal virus you can scan PC by using various software (not free) or there is one Free and the best among people. AVG Free Edition is the well-known anti-virus protection tool. AVG Free is available free-of-charge to home users . I have given the link below go that web look at the right side you will find download button.
Sometimes there are very dirty virus they will hide in system and destroy data. In any case use AVG scan and see if you are lucky you will be save.
Point of advise, always keep data in back up.

Take backup of all the existing files in your computer.
Then format the hard disc. The virus will be removed automatically. Then load AVG anti-virus softwar for permanent protection and alert.

it depends on the type f virus that you are infected with. some viruses, like brontok, doesnt allow the installation of anti virus, like avg, it restarts the machine. in such cases, try installing MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe (search the web) and uding its advanced tools to stop the runnin process infected. once you have stopped these processes, then install, update a anti virus software and then scan you system.

it depends upon the virus that ur computer is infected .....
the restore is one of the solution ....but it doesn't work 100 %
check all files with good virus protection software......
if the virus is powerful...then backup ur files and format the computer ...

It largely depends upon what virus you have. If it is a boot sector virus, the procedure for cure is entirely different than most other malware.

if you got a virus on another computer then if you want to get it off you should see what antivirus software is on that computer
if there is one scan the computer and try to delete what ever it finds buy quarentine it
but, if there is no software on that computer download avg antivirus best free antivirus software
go to ask.com and type avg antivirus for the website

scan your computer with Latest Definition Anti Virus ..and after completing scan process clean all infected files ..then you can use that computer ..
