Well being such a beautiful day, we had the doors and windows open all day. All screens are in of course. Tonight, there are these tiny little black or brown bugs that are flying all over. They look like tiny house flies, but maybe with more legs. We live in a very wooded neighborhood. We are new here, so we've never seen them before. Please help, They are EVERYWHERE... even flying into the computer screen as I type this. Please don't tell me to clean my house. It's clean.

I checked out all the bugs you've all suggested. It's not termites, fruit flies, ants, black flies or no see ums. I live in Illinois. They fly and crawl. They seem to like lights.

Sounds like fruit flies or gnats, put 2oz of cider vinegar in a glass the size of a juice glass, add two or three drops of dishwashing soap and leave set on the counter, I set several thru our house in a day or two look thru the bottom of the glass, you won't believe how many are in there...good luck.
I used this remedy for the first time last year and it worked like a charm.

Sounds like a good case of fruit flies. If they're about a 16th of an inch long and kinda reddish then that's most likely what they are. They love fruits and vegetables left out on the counter and soda and beer cans that haven't been rinsed. You local hardware store has fruit fly traps.

Where do you live, what state? And, a little more detail on the insects please.......If they look like ants with wings, they could be a swarming termite colony (not good) or just a swarming colony of ants.....Count the body - segments, 3-ants, 2-termites......

I'm not sure without seeing them. Do they drop their wings and then crawl around?, they might be termites. Termites will sometimes swarm when the weather warms up to find a new home.

Where do you live? I'm in New England and it hasn't been warm enough yet for bugs. Sometimes your location can give a clue. Check out some of these sites:

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Probably no-see-ums, AKA midge flies. They do bite, and they are small enough to get through regular window screen mesh.

*Additional details* Well, then, I'm stumped. Let us know when you find out what they are.
