I'm trying to find a daycare program for my 3 month old son. I'm trying to decide:

1) traditional day care or private home based day care?
2) national franchise day care (like kids r kids) or smaller private owned day care?

And what are some things that I should look for in a daycare? What questions should I ask when visiting a center?

Sorry... I'm a first time mom... :)

I would go with the larger more accredited daycares. Yes they cost more but you can get assistance for tuition if you are working or in school. yes, they will be more subseptible to colds and flu because of the larger groups of kids but there are required teacher/child ratio's by law per group. The younger the child, the more adults per group. Like babies will be need 1 adult per 2-3 babies and then 3, 4, 5 and up will be needed for 2 adults per 8-12 kids. Daycares give all info on daily activities and meal plans so you will know exactly what is going on with your child. Even when your child falls and hits his head, they are required to fill out an "accident report" for you to sign just stating you are aware of the incident. Daycares have to be scrubed down too every day so you know there is no sanitation issues. Ask lots of questions no matter how silly you think they might be. Be careful when choosing and good luck.

i would rather use a home based day care for younger babies that dont have alot of children in the house. look for a clean house make sure they know tha basics like cpr, have list of you emergency numbers and pickup contacts. be sure that there are fire escapes and plans, and are prepared for anything
