It isn't an outer body experience but it is an evil spirit which is following you. People like us in Asia, specially in India & other south Asian countries have this myth that when your time in the earth has gone, and you've not died, you will be followed by a shadow of death. People experience this when they have overtimed the death.

This also happens when you've done some sins & spirits who have done the same sins & their results were death, follow you till you correct those.

Alternative thing is that..you may have an other being inside. That is not human, it may be an enemy, animal, beast, doppelganger or something like that. It is better to have these than the other 2 ideas above that, according to astrology, the time these leave you, till then your lfe is a success.

There have been several good answers given - Tim S and Rev. Two both gave you some good ideas and there were others like miles256 as well. It sounds like it could be one of two things - you could be having exceptionally lucid dreams. I have these sometimes and they are REALLY scary because you are somewhere between awake and asleep, having hallucination-like dreams and you cannot move, cannot communicate to anyone what is going on and MOST scarily, you CAN'T WAKE UP! I've had these things go on to where I *think* I've awoke 5 or 6 TIMES before I finally manage to do so and then, as you described, my heart is racing.

Alternatively, you *could* be a natural at out-of-body experiences, in which case there could be a couple things going on here. Firstly, you spook yourself, which causes you to feel as though there were a malevolent force hovering around and keeping you away from your body. Secondly, there could BE a malevolent force hanging around you - perhaps someone has cursed you, or you are somehow just a magnet for them. I would advise doing some research on psychic protection - some of the easiest ways to protect yourself include visualizing a bright white around yourself, with a mirrored surface on the outside - be sure to specify that this surface only reflects away thoughts that would do you harm, but allows through positivity. You also could do blessings on your home, car (if applicable) and maybe a talisman of some kind that you wear around. I hope this all helps you in some way. Good luck!

I have had experiences almost EXACTLY the same as yours. And for years I kept quiet about it. Then I began to find that it was fairly common. Finally, about 10 years after i started getting them, a doctor explained they were called "sleep paralysis" and that they could be frightening but were ABSOLUTELY HARMLESS.

As some of the posters here have said, it is caused by your awakening brain becoming conscious just prior to it regaining control over other bodily functions (the reverse order being the normal one). The conscious brain then perceives the inablitity to move as a kind of paralysis.

Historically, the episodes are very often associated with other kinds of hallucinations of an intruder approaching your bed, or a witch sitting on your chest. The fear is compounded by the fact that the affected person cannot even cry out for help even tho their partner may be right next to them.

I found that after I gave up smoking, and stopped drinking heavilly, the episodes finally stopped. Also, you can learn to feel an episode like that coming on, and avoid it.

But the important thing is, don't listen to the complete BS that has been spouted here by some about being possessed etc. This is a very common syndrome, and is completely harmless. Look up sleep paralysis on Google, and you will see what I mean.

First of all I would like to point out that you can have an outer body experience without being fast asleep. One of your answers seems to suggest that you can't and I think you can.

Secondly what you describe does not sound like out of body experience but hallucinations or illusions (although I am not disputing that they are real to you). They cannot harm you. You are stronger than anything, real or perceived, that may be shadowing you.

Thirdly I would want to ask how close you and your Mom are? If she has some physic abilities then she may be just the person you need now. You and she can discuss what has been happening.

Finally I would just like to say don't worry, don't freak out and I do understand, I will be adding you to my contacts.

The same exact type of thing happened to me when I went to Australia, and has happened two or three other times in my life. At first I thought it was a ghost- so vivid and lucid. Believe it or not, you are still locked in deep sleep even though you are awake in some ways. It is often described as a, scary, sickening, and paralyzed state.

I thought that my lady friend had walked into the room and up to the side of the bed, silenty bending over close to my face. I was confused and then feeling a little romantic as I stared into her eyes trying to make out the outline of her face. Suddenly her face came into focus and it was grotesquely deformed, then she floated apart like dissapating smoke- absolutely horrifying. Then I felt vertigo and everything was a bright white/green. And it ended. I was still paralyzed but wide awake looking around the room. I would count 1-2-3- and plan to get up and run, but I was frozen. Finally, I got up and went to my friend's room and woke her up- she said she had definitely not gone in my room. For a while I thought it was either a malevolent ghost, or I was showing signs of schizophrenia. Turned out to be something else, thank Gods.

It's a phenomenon called "night terrors" and is most common in the early years, but it happened to me around 17-20 years old. There are resources online to help you.

Your experience differs from my out of this world outer body experience that I encountered just a week ago, my second as a matter of fact which would make it part 2. I tried to out run a freight train and, when I least expectexed it, this giant super heavy train jumped off the tracks and hit me and killed me, it is a good thing that I was able to hide under some tumbleweeds because I do believe that dry brush cushioned the impact of that beastly machine landing on my body. I was dead for a moment in time, at which time I experienced leaving my body as my spirit shot up through the bounderies of space, I flew by the sun, then, just as I nearly burnt all up, My spirit flew fast back to earth into my dead body returning me to life. I sure am glad too because I seen the devil as he smirked and smiled a crooked vile smile at me, as I flew close to hell. But the angels of God rescued just in time or I'd be in hell burning eternally in pain.

This is not an uncommon experience. First you need to look at what you believe. Do you believe in Spirituality or Christianity? Then you can move forward with a solution. If you believe in Christianity then you would need to seek the help of God and the Bible. "Submit yourself therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you."

If you believe in Spirituality, which would seem to be the case, then you must do a couple of things. First you need to acknowledge the fact that these things do indeed exist. Then you need to learn to protect yourself from those spirits which would be considered evil or threatening. Then you can begin your journey of awakening your psychic and spiritual journey.

You ask a question which really has no quick answer. This is a question which would require communications over time. My family comes from the old country where these types of things are Very commonplace. I was one of the more fortunate ones to have a goodhearted spirit follow me from place to place since the age of 9 years. For many years I told no one, until one day my mother acknowledged that he was always around me. I never felt threatened by him, and felt protected by him more than anything.

As for your mother picking up on this, a mother's bond with her children allows her to know when you are in danger, or troubled by something, also called intuition. You are truly blessed to have a parent which is not afraid to share this with you. It sounds like she is a person you could discuss this with and if she couldn't answer, then she may know someone else in your family that has stronger abilities than herself. If your Mother's mother is still around, this may be a good chance to discuss this with her and see if she also experiences things of this nature yet never told anyone. There is GREAT wisdom to be learned from the older generations. Hope this helps.

I have had the exact same thing happen but for VERY short periods of time. It is some sort of presence and it does not sound very nice, I would look to my preist, etc... If all else fails contact your local university to see if they have a paranormal team and get with them, if not the university should be able to tell you where to find one. Or you could Google, paranormal teams in your area. Good luck and may God be with you.

Yes I have felt stuff too. But when I finally feel it happen cuz it sneaks up on me. I just release my belief in all that is good in life. I do not go to church per-say. But I do believe in goodness. This seems to scare away what ever it is. I never dwell on it. Just when it happens or whenever I feel weird, I just think good thoughts and kinda talk with god. It works for me. I am not really sure what is going on with you but try it. Maybe it will work for you too. Good luck and remember Just Concentrate on goodness. If it is a good thing it will not hurt you. If it is evil it will leave.

I'm fairly sure it's just sleep paralysis, based on your description, but it can't hurt to have it checked out by a competent, unbiased medium (i.e. one who doesn't know your family, but has a good track record). I get that feeling you just described before going to sleep, but never afterwards, although that's supposedly more common. Hell, if there really IS anything following you around, go to a random neopagan shop and ask the proprietor to give you lessons on shielding.
