I think the United States is ready, but I think neither of the candidates you are alluding to are up to the job.

Yes, I do and I think it's about damn time. Why do we have to be READY??? Are only white men capable of running the world? Looking back on history I say again "ABOUT DAMN TIME".
ps. don't think because I'm a black woman I'm playing the race card. I am merely stating the facts. The world should be ran by a qualified candidate, whether they are black, white, hispanic, male, female, handicap, etc. ALL WE NEED IS A GOOD LEADER.

Is America so unadvanceed that we wont have a women president i mean Israel,Chile,San Marino, Austria, Serbia, Indonesia,and The Philippines all have/had women leaders and there doing just fine ok mabye not Israel but still and black people are just as amuch americans as anyone else what going to be next can we have a jewish president a gay president if were going to debate aganst this lets just go back 70 years i mean are presadental views havent progresed.

A black President would have it a lot harder than a white President. Everything he did for the black race would be judged twice as much. Even if it was a simple bill for schools in the ghetto.

No. A lot of other countries can have female leaders, but I dont think the U.S. is ready for that! Many men are too prideful in this country to take orders from a women. It will happen but not right now! Hillary is a nice choice, but I think Condoleeza Rice is stronger one, but its not her time either...
For a black president, I dont think our country would be ready for that either...our country is way to divided about racism(openly or not). It would be nice, but our country is just way to unstable to have a huge change like that to take place. We might have the right candidates, but it is just at the wrong time!

I sure am ready for either. I'm not sure the Country is though, there are many bigoted people in this country and also very many men who don't think a woman is smarter than they are. One day they will find the truth that they are very wrong.

I believe the answer is Yes. For example, Republican polls indicate that many vote for Condi Rice or Colin Powell, if they were running.
