The lesson I learned in (for me it was junior high) school was that it wasn't nearly as bad as rumored. When I was in 6th grade, people have told me that the 7th graders get picked on and teased by the older kids. It was supposed to be a nightmare. I actually liked junior high.
The other thing I learned is that everything you do from then on counts- grades, your attitude, your attendance record, etc.. Just look at the application when you try to get a job. One of the first questions asked is where you went to school. They want to know what kind of person you are by looking into your school records- among other things.

To treat others with respect. I was picked on a lot in jr. high up to the point where I only had 2 friends. No one liked me; I was the teacher's pet, the nerd, and the geek who liked oldies and classical music.

I never picked on anyone in school so I wondered as to why I deserved such disrespect. My parents taught me to treat others as I would have myself treated.

This has made me a stronger person today.

I learned to be careful who to pick for friends and to wait awhile to see who your friends really are. Good friends are friends for life, and not so good friends will turn on you.
