seriously. Has air quality improved or forests been saved from the axe or has our water quality improved? Has the damage by mining increased or decreased? Has any large areas been preserved (other than the ocean preserve in Hawaii)?

Or is there evidence that the environmental situation is worse after he took office?

ok Sparhawk, was this something in the works before Bush took office or was it a package deal with all sorts of other pork added on...I take what you say to be true on face value, but if this is it, it's rather feeble considering what else may have been negative.

WOW!!!!!!!

Everyones hatred for this administration had blinded them to the fact that George Bush signed into law to protect thousands of acres in the South Pacific as wildlife preserve. Severely limiting human intrusion. Preserving fragile coral reefs.

It was the largest set aside in US History.

"Thanks to a mid-June declaration by President George Bush, these islands are now the largest marine reserve on Earth. They join 14 13 other marine sanctuaries in the United States, officially protected from direct threats like fishing (especially if the current handful commercial fishing permits are bought out by conservationists) and poaching (presuming Congress eventually allocates the money to patrol against it).

Whatever the strategic political reasons for the move might have been (and lets just say there are next to no downsides in the declaration for the allies of an administration not noted for its progressive environmental policies, especially as they move into a tough election season), ecologically this declaration is worthy of a champagne toast. Nearly pristine, the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands shelter one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the United States: vast coral reefs, sharks, most of the state's nesting green sea turtles, whales, more than 14 million seabirds, the endangered Hawaiian monk seal, and seven thousand-odd more other species. "

You all remember this right? You all knew about this right?
You knew that even Environmental groups applauded this right?

Let's be so blinded buy hate so that we ignore a significant environmental achievement that occurred less than a year ago.

He dedicated 10 times more wetland in his first term than clinton did in both his terms, he spent 5 times more money on epa budget than clinton, water and air quality both are greatly improved, He did successfully stop some of the foolish environmental whackoo laws that were counterproductive to true conservatism.. He stopped rich atheletes and chemical corps from ripping off the farm programs that were designed to helpour little farmers. and he increased the number of watershed projects underway by 3 times-- just to name a few..

I don't know what they have done for the US. If human beings are also considered to be a part of our environment then his administration has done and continuing a lot to the people of Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan and now trying to implement in Iran.

What have YOU done? You live here too pal, if you think the government is there to do everything for you and you get to lay around eating grapes all day then you need to go watch H.G. Wells' Time Machine and get a good look at the benefits of an apathetic society. Get off the computer and go out and change something instead of boo-hoo'ing about how someone else isn't.

The only thing that the Bush administration has done for the "Greening of America", is to line rich people's pockets with more "green."

Seriously, they don't care about the environment; they don't see a problem with it.
