I fear for my safety...what's the easiest way to change my identity?

Past abuser and stalker out of prison..I'm a single mom without alot of cash. I need a new name and social security number to remain safe.

You don't need a new identity, you need a concealed weapon. Get gun training and a license to carry a concealed weapon. If he does anything to menace or threaten you, protect yourself.
If he's out, you can get out. You might not even have to go to prison. You have rights too. Defend your rights.
You should be able to go to the perpetrator's favorite bar and tell the scum bag calmly that he abused you and wish he was still in prison. Then leave the bar and get your gun. If he follows you, if he threatens you, if he menaces you, consider how your next act will play for a jury of your peers.
While talking of the abuse in the bar, you might go into detail about what the perp specifically did to abuse you. Make sure lots of people are witness to what you said. They might call his friends to testify at your trial.
You do not have to run away because you were a victim. Stop being a victim.

Someone suggested going to a women's shelter and asking for advice. I think that's a good idea. They deal with stuff like this all the time. I also agree that letting the police know is a good idea.

Might I also suggest that you let all your neighbors, friends, co-workers and grocery store clerks, bank tellers, etc. know to keep an eye out for this guy and to watch over you.

Make a point to "check in" regularly with a neighbor so they can be aware instantly if something seems "not right."

Let your neighbors know what sort of car this guy might be driving, how he dresses, friends he might have...

It's a shame, but work on getting all your info off the internet as fast as possible. Anything that can be cross referenced to you or your address.

You can legally change your name and your child's name, but often times those notices are made public record ask a judge if there is a way to keep certain aspects of the name change secret.

And then you might just have to move out of state and try to start fresh.

You can also talk with a Private Investigator and get some help. They know some good tricks.

This is a issue that you need to speak to the police about. You said he has just got out of prison, hopefully he won't bother you again. If you are really worried could you go to a women's refuge for a while, they may be able to help you relocate.

You probably can't do it effectively without breaking the law. Try a new town? Would this guy go cross-country after you? Call the local women's shelter for advice, this could be a survival issue, huh?

i dont have an answer, but im sure if youre worried, someone at your police department could help you, and its not that hard to change your name, but youd probably have to change your childs name too, or they still might be able to find you. if its someone who knew you well, theyll probably now your friends and family too, which you shouldnt been seen with anymore. i dont know your situation, but maybe he'll just leave you alone...? at least i hope. whatever you do, be carefull, and keep you and your baby safe. good luck*

get help from authorities........police...fbi meanwhile go to a woman's shelter.Make sure to contact you're local police sometimes they have programs and they will definitely get a restraining order on him
