i have to agree with miss veg... bands who call themselves "punk bands" when they are really pop are basically alllll sellout bands..their music is CRAP!

Well in that case the beatles top them all. Ever seen pictures of teenagers screaming when the beatles came into town.
Other notables:
The rolling stones(how many final farewell tours now), Led zeppelin(oh so good), Aerosmith(I don't know I'm just guessing), Black Sabbath (they were very popular in their day and still are)
