Hey it's nothing like that... Not the fan the new models and so on that's coming from HP especially dv6000 its coming with that annoying high pitch noise... I just received mine today and same thing happens... Search at yahoo.com for hp dv 6000 and you will find a lot of people saying that they have the same problem... Actually not a problem but it's a fact that is annoying. It has something do to with the CPU when it goes idle, I'm not complete sure... But I did saw some topics that people actually got this fix... one by setting something at the bios and others downloading some kind of software that fixed but brought the CPU temp up... So my best guess it's to contact Hp tomorrow morning and if is there a fix for it they will probably tell you... an far as I know this is not a problem unless you want to make one because of the damn noise... (I dont blame you) =/... sorry ffor my english...

Edit: here is something that you can try (not tested by me) (my best call still contact HP) but here it goes:
Cons: Incessant high pitched noise that has to be changed by entering BIOS menu (hitting F10 at start screen and then changing CPU C4 to "disabled".)

Cons: the infamous whining noise... **BUT THERE'S A SOLUTION!** visit this link here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=85477&page=3 Download the program and follow the instructions. My laptop had the whine and the whine is now GONE. Apparently the whine has something to do with interference with the laptop adjusting the clockspeed during idle/load operations.

WOW Finally after hours and hours of searching i got that noise gone, Did a update to Bios to vs: f.16 then disable CPU C4 Function on Bios and BINGO! No more noise...

However he is the cons: The battery life of a mobile device is dependent upon platform power consumption. Intel® HD Audio has been implemented with this understanding and enables techniques that can provide significant power savings under certain usage models. Intel HD Audio does this by allowing the CPU to enter a lower power ACPI idle state (C4) under certain conditions. In contrast, AC'97 will only allow the CPU to go as deep as C2, a state that consumes greater power than C4. Workloads that contain continuous audio streams such as CD audio playback and DVD playback can take advantage of this deeper power-saving state. Power savings are also achieved during idle periods with no audio playback. Intel HD Audio supports an efficient low-power ACPI idle state (D3) that it enters when no audio streams are being processed for an amount of time defined by the device driver.

It reduce the battery life... So it's up to you. after contacting HP for more than 5 times they told me an uptade to the Bios will comeup to fix this problem.

HP told me everything to: Update Bios, Check HardDrive, Reset memory module, HAHAHA Reformat my Operating System... Man what a night, but didnt told me to change that c4 thing. now I wonder if they can make an uptade to the Bios.

these other people know nothing
see the noise could be your fan
if its a new laptop then nothing is going bad unless its a defect which i highly doubt that
but fans will get loud sometimes and it could be vibrating a key on the keyboard
but if its not the fan then it is probably the usual noise you hear admitting from the mother board
i like to think of that noise as a loading noise
but its fine dont stress about it

its probably just the fan, i have 2 laptops and they both make a small noise. if the noise starts to sound weird or gets alot louder than usual, then you need to clean the fan.

don't panic. it may just be the fans or the normal hard drive sounds. take it to a shop or to best buy or something like that and have them check it out. most shops wouldn't charge anything.
