I want to make him feel special once again, but we are simple, yet sentimental people.

A night in a hotel. Give him the address only, let him find it and you inside the room with candles and maybe a spa bubbling over... don't forget the suits... oops... forgot the suits? oh well... just go naked.

What or where was your first date?
or
How about a dinner with music only, no TV, and a movie - at home. I can't cook, so I would have to carry in, but something simple and at the table or the coffee table set up with a simple vase of flowers and candles. A favorite desert, then curl up together on the couch and watch a favor ate old movie that you watched together at some romantic time in the past.

Have the house clean, at least everything out of site and dim lights. Perhaps candles light.

If you can afford or want to spend the money, take him to a moderately priced hotel with a nice restaurant and an indoor tropical pool area where you can sit and talk about 'remember when'. Then either home to the movie or get a room and watch the movie curled up on the bed.

Create a menu with starters, main course, and dessert. Set up the home like a restaurant and make a fab meal. Or if you live in a place with great weather, you can always string up lights in the backyard with tiki torches and have dinner there!

A picnic where you can enjoy one another's company. Spread a blanket on the grass, lay under the stars and talk about your dreams. The best thing you can do to make him feel special is just listen to him for the longest time possible without offering advice. Guys like to talk about their "stuff" but they don't want their woman giving suggestions or trying to fix it for them.

Cook him a nice candle light dinner (and dessert - I recommend chocolate fondue using Tolberone chocolate and a bit of rum)... then draw a bath, get in it together, drink some champagne.
