I hate being told that I am the enemy because I won't bow and scrape to the money lords. I hate being spied on and lied to by people who sell out their own spies and then lie about it.
I hate an administration who claims that all of our enemies are like the Nazi's and then become worse than the Nazi's.

I don't like the name. It implies any one who object Patriot Act is unpatriotic. And some see it as pointless for giving up privacy and bit of freedom which we are suppose to be fighting for. But most really are not directly effected by it or ever will be. I don't mind it, but it is part of that controversial expansion of presidential powers. That is some what worrisome.

It's not the Patriot act itself I am worried about, it's the lack of checks and balances. At some point we will see abuses of the act. (there are currently some allegations of violations)

And this is not a partisan issue, both the Republicans and Democrats support it and reaffirmed it.

Personally I shuddered when I read what our congress had passed.

Anyone willing to sacrifice their freedoms for security, deserves neither freedom or security! This may not be an exact, verbatim quote, but it is close, and Benjamin Franklin said it! The Patriot act is not about protecting us from terrorism, that is only what the powers that be, want us all to believe. It is really about taking away our freedoms, so that they can control us. This is what 9/11 is about, and this is what the national id cards are about, and this is what the chips that they want to eventually put in all of us, is all about. *sm*

Most people object to it based on what they've heard, without ever actually reading the text of the laws or what the Act does.

Some of us oppose many of the provisions in the Patriot Act because they remove safeguards. Prior to the act, there was a buffer between what was allowed, what was illegal but constitutional, and what was unconstitutional. The Patriot Act removed that buffer, thus allowing for easier abuses of power.

The question says it all. I guess we don't trust the government. They might divulge our CIA cover, or lose 12 Billion is cash, or fake intel about WMDs, or sole-source contracts to the VP's former company. In my opinion, this is the most corrupt administration we've ever had. Why would I worry they stripped away some of my rights? Hmmm!

Because our forefathers did everything that they could think of to protect our civil rights. They understood that the biggest threat to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, of any people, is their own government. They warned us not to let our government gather too much power to control us. They even made sure that we had the right to bear arms. Do people think they did that so that we could protect ourselves from each other? No, they did that so that we could protect ourselves from our own government.

because so many fools who act like they know what they hate about it make up so many lies about it.. What 'freedom' have you lost as a direct result of the patriot act? Do you have a clue how many murders and other crimes have been deterred as a direct result of the patriot act? Grow up. Leave that paranoid delusion behind.

The patriot act allows profiling, I love it.

If you don't like the patriot act get the people that have declared war on us to stop their surreptitious use of our (not their) inherent freedoms to attack us and undermine the freedoms that we grant them.

Wake up and smell the jihad.
