First of all, change your diet. Fingernails and hair are great for identifying other health problems that may go unnoticed otherwise. Eat healthier foods. In the meantime, there are medications that you can apply to the nails to help keep what is there intact. Aloe vera is one that you can use, vitamin E is another.

I don't know about nails, but for the cuticles (skin above the nail), use lotion from Bath and Body Works. They have lotions from True Blue Spa called glove potions and you put them on your skin and wear gloves to sleep. When you wake up, your hands are moisturized!

Well first you have to cut them, then put on some strenghtening (its clear) nail polish with vitamin E and other vitamins to help them stay strong and grow correctly, then, you can keep them as long as you want!!
