For you:
-Panties
-Robe
-Pajamas
-Socks
-House shoes
-Hairbow/brush
-Chap stick
-Change for vending machines
-Nursing bra (if you breastfeed if not then a nice fitting bra)
-Loose outfit to go home in

For Baby:
-Socks
-Outfit for the hospital photo
-Blanket
-Carseat
-onesie(s)

Other things
-Cameras
-Bring along the baby album so they can put the footprints in your baby book

At the hospital they will furnish the following:
-Wipes
-Diapers
-Deodorant
-Toothbrush/paste/mouthwash
-Maxi pads
-t-shirts for the baby
-bottles
-baby lotion
-They will most likely give you a diaper bag

Good luck and Congrats!

Loose fitting sweat suit
Slipper socks with no slip bottoms
2 bath towels (hospital towels are small in size )
2 plastic trashbags (to put damp towels and dirty cloths in)
A calling card (you can't make long distance calls from the hospital phone)
An outfit for baby (something both comfortable and weather appropriate)
Any cosmetics you normally use (Photos will be taken and you will want to look your best)
Sanitary pads (Most hosptials still use the elastic band around the waist from the 50's style)
2 water bottles (Use the hosptial water pitcher as an ice bucket to keep the bottles cold)
Some hard candy (Jolly ranchers/ lollipops/ lifesavers/ etc. they can help you feel less thirsty)
3-4 pairs of underwear (get granny panty style as bikini cut can be extremely uncomfortable if a c-section is needed)
1 comfortable night outfit (make sure it's a two part outfit as nurses will need to massage your abdomin and check your bleeding and it's easier for both of you with a two part outfit)
2-3 good bras (whether you are breastfeeding or not you will need the extra support because you will get you milk in either way)
Breast pads (you can use pantie liners cut in half, you will likely leak a bit and the pad will contain it so you don't look like someone doused you front)
A book or magazines to read (You will probably have some sleepless hours and reading can help those pass more pleasently)
Some cash ($20.00 since you don't know when labor will end having some cash so your labor coach can get something to eat fast can make it easier, if your coach isn't hungry all thier attention can be on you at the critical time)
A camera (you will want pictures, maybe not of labor but definately after of the baby)
Address book (after a long labor and delivery your brain will be tired remembering phone numbers is taxing... I had to look up my parents number... the same number they have had since I was 8)

Clothes to wear home ( Don't grab your skinny jeans, just yet)
You will want a maternity outfit
Panties ( grab as many disposables as you can while there, you will want some that you are ready to toss anyhow)
Contact / Glasses
As for toiletries, the hospital has them, so why bother.
For baby, a take home outfit and infant car seat are all that is necessary. . .all of the other stuff is Fluff.

Each time I delivered I did not take a bag, I survived and dare I say I think that it was actually easier. Before I left, I had my hubby grab a change of clothes and I was good to go.

Comfy jammie pants
Socks
your own sanitary napkins
loose comfy shirt
tolietries (deoderant, shampoo/conditioner,toothbrush,toothpaste,brush)
slippers
housecoat
outfit for baby to come home in
snacks for your labour coaches
books/magazines for the down time
your birth plan (if you have one)
changes of underwear (preferably dark pairs)

There is alot of things to bring. They seem like alot but there are alot of small things. You dont need to bring the car seat right away. Your partner can bring that on the day you and baby come home. Google the labour bag list.
