if a spare key is available have it duplicated at Wlamart for two dollars.
If no spare is available call a locksmith and have them tap out a key from the lock tumbler. Seventy five to a hundred and fifty dollars depending on the road call and distance to you.
Ford did not begin to keep a record of ignition key codes in their databases until after 1990.

Go to a garage where they make keys and ask if they can cut one for your vehicle.
Go to a Ford dealer, they many know someone that will cut a key, a friend did that when he lost his key.

the switch or just the key if just the key take your vin to the dealer and they can make u a new one. it the switch there should be a little hole in the shinny part of the switch where u put the key in ,find a hardened pice of wire and push it in the hhole to release the tumbler and pull it out

i had an experience similar to yours. Walmart wouldnt do it on my car key; said it was not legal (said mine had a code in it) there is a web site that you can get them pretty cheapbut i cant remember the name. i went to a hardware store and they did it with no problem. I just remembered , my key had the alarm and door opener, etc, and that is why walmart wouldnt do it.

i own a shop, and if you don't have a spare your best and cheapest way out would be too have a lock smith make you one,it would be a lot cheaper than changing the ignition switch and locks on it,,we all have had to do this a few times ,good luck i hope this helps.
