A few glasses of Merlot always does the trick for me. Barring that, Aleve works the best. It's made from a prescription only med we used back in the 80's, and it still works today. It won't, however, alleviate bloating and irritability, so stick with Midol for the trifactor.

The non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs seem to help cramps as much as anything. These drugs include Aleve (generic name: Naproxin Sodium) and Motrin (generic name: Ibuprofen). These are available over the counter. If these drugs don't help, it is possible to get more powerful prescription drugs from your doctor.

I find that ibuprofen works best for me, but different things work better for different people.
