in most of my dreams, ill have some kind of super power, like say being able to fly if i flap my arms, but when i go to use this power, its really difficult, or i cant do it. like, even when i flap my arms as hard as i can, i can only lift off a few feet, and ultimately cant use whatever my power it.

i have dreams like this a lot, always with a different power/scenario, but i always cant use my power, or its incredibly difficult to do so

any ideas what it could mean?

Any dreams of flying/super powers etc. means that you're using the power within you to achieve what you want. You're just learning this power which is why you can only lift off a few feet. By believing in yourself, you'll eventually be able to fly like a bird.

I would interpret the dream as there's something in your life that has potential that your aware of, but for some reason your not able to fully utilize it and this comes through your subconscious through dreaming this way.
You could also simply be whats called "lucid dreaming" in where your aware your dreaming so you manipulate your presence in the dream by deciding to go flying, move things with your mind, etc, in the dream. If your interested in this subject, there is a whole forum where you can learn more about it, and you can join others talk about it at www.dreamviews.com

Flying
To dream that you are flying, signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.

Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams where you become aware that you are dreaming, known as lucid dreaming. Many dreamers have described the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience.

If you are flying with ease and enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.

Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft and stay on course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may further obstruct your flight. These barriers represent a particular obstacle or person who is standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify who or what is hindering you from moving forward.

If you are feeling fear when you are flying or that you feel that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success.

In reality, we do not have the ability to fly. Thus such dreams may represent that which is beyond our physical limitations. In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Undoubtedly these dreams leave you a great sense of freedom.

I have these too. the flying one I can barely get a few feet off the ground or sometimes I'm flying but my feet drag on the ground. Other times I can stick to walls but i keep slipping and then the powers fail all together. I'd like some insight into this too!!

I find dreams about having powers to be related to spiritual growth. If you are having trouble flying or using your powers, perhaps something is blocking your progress. It is also possible that you are having lucid dreams as the other person suggested, but are you aware in your dream that you are dreaming? If not, it isn't a lucid dream.

It could mean that you feel you are special, you have something unique and really meaningful to bring into the world, but when you try to, it is very difficult and does not succeed. This is something you may be struggling with (owning and using effectively your own personal power in the world).

Peace,
David :)
