It's because you stopped chatting or typing for a while. You could set the time. just go 2 privacy options and change your settings.

if you click on the word message at the top of the messenger main window, it will open the window so you can see what is listed. if you go to preferences a new window will open. in that window go to "privacy" and there you can change the idle time or if you uncheck the box under Idle Status.

Ya if ur idle for too long it auto puts u as idle

if you don't type anything for a while it will say that but once you type again it will say available it's like being on stand bye
