I wouldn't call him a scum bag but obviously he feels that way. Personally, it's not the choice I'd make and it does call into question his character and his desire for power.

You are assuming that one option precludes the other, but that is not a "given".
Even if we were to substitute any marital goal or dream for the presidential election, there are very few of us who have actually been in those shoes, so who knows?
A number of presidents have experienced personal and physical tragedies while in office (Lincoln, FDR and JFK are the most obvious)...and I am not convinced that those events weakened their performance or humanity.
Either or both of the Edwards' may be overly optimistic about "positive thinking", but science tells us that it does work to some degree. Just like anyone else, they will be making adjustments as time goes by. If indeed either of them has truly conquered their fear, that speaks well of them.
Bottom line, You are not going to vote for him; I am not going to vote for him. That's the only judgment that is ours to make.

I think John Edwards is yet another empty shell of a politician.
In all fairness.....well.....yeah, his wife did tell him to keep running......but is THAT even the truth? Could be another lie from another self-serving politician. America can do him a favor and do the right thing so he CAN spend time with Mrs. Edwards: DON"T VOTE FOR HIM.

Dude,
His wife is not dying. She has cancer, but she's just going to have treatment. She's not terminally ill and lying in bed like you might think. She's up and about, and she's supporting her husband. But then her condition might change later and Edwards might change his mind.

You have some nerve. This family has been through hell. Mrs. Edwards wants her husband to run because she believes in his cause. It gives her something to live for. She can expect to live several more years thanks to the new medical treatments now available. What a shameful question.

She wants him to run, she will be with him most of the time anyway, and he stated if she needs him he would drop everything. So get off his ***. Now then I am not voting for him anyway but give him a break ***.
