depends, do you want to play the guitar and just learn some simple songs that are on the radio today. or do you want to really learn how to play the guitar, and play the guitar like a real instrument

I've been playing guitar for twenty four years. If your serious about it get an acoustic guitar,a tuner and the Gary Turner beginners book. Set aside an hour a day to practice and stick to it. As you progress you'll find great pleasure in being able to make music.

i learned guitar after i learned piano, and i think that helped me a lot with reading music and all that...but if you don't know how to read music, you can read tabs instead.
i would start on an acoustic guitar...just so you don't hafta buy an amp, cables, ect. and you might wanna buy a book to talk you through things...once you get down the basic chords and how to read tabs and/or notes, you can go online and find tabs to almost any song you wanna learn how to play...good luck, and have fun!!

it really depends on what song you want to do and stuff. some songs are deficult to do at first especially if your a beginner. start off with easy songs that are at least 1 to 3 cords. then start from then. as soon as you learn more and more. and learn the cords to then you'll get better at the guitar.
try simple songs too... also you can try to play the song jeremy by pearl jam. i am learning that right now and it's not that hard to do...

It's not especially hard, if you're willing to put in the time. Get a good starter guitar kit, like an Epiphone, and practice some easy stuff, like Nirvana, AC/DC, simpler Led Zeppelin, Cream...stuff like that. Once you have a basic understanding of chords and scales, you'll be on your way. :D

well first of all you should print out a copy of some common chords. in order to play songs, you need chords, and you should practice strumming them in order for your fingers to get used to pressing down on the strings. plus, when you memorize them, its so much easier to play songs.
