Keep in mind that any song can have special meaning for a lost loved one and you should really try to think of the person and of songs that really show that persons character as opposed to just the normal songs about life, love, and death. Regardless, here are a few that meant a great deal to me when my brother passed away.
In My Life - Beatles
Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton
One Sweet Day - Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men
Much as I wrote above, one song that really reminds me of him is Moon River, by Johnny Mercer, simply because I always remember him trying to learn how to play it and because if you think of it as two brothers in the song, it takes on a different meaning then the one intended by Mercer.
Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

I will remember you- Amy Grant. The lyrics are beautiful.
I will be walking one day
Down a street far away
And see a face in the crowd and smile
Knowing how you made me laugh
Hearing sweet echoes of you from the past
I will remember you.
Look in my eyes while youre near
Tell me whats happening here
See that I dont want to say good-bye
Our love is frozen in time
Ill be your champion and youll be mine
I will remember
I will remember you.
Later on
When this fire is an ember
Later on
When the nights not so tender
Given time
Though its hard to remember darlin
I will be holding
Ill still be holding to you
I will remember you.
So many years come and gone
And yet the memory is strong
One word we never could learn
Good-bye
True love is frozen in time
Ill be your champion and youll be mine
I will remember you
So please remember
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you.

If you are looking for religious songs, "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me and "You Raised Me Up" by Josh Groban. I also like, "In My Life" by John Lennon. One that is my favorite is "One More Day" by Diamond Rio. Here are the lyrics:
Last night I had a crazy dream
A wish was granted just for me,
It could be for anything
I didn't ask for money
Or a mansion in malibu
I simply wished, for one more day with you
Chorus
One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again
I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you
First thing I'd do, is pray for time to crawl
Then I'd unplug the telephone
And keep the tv off
I'd hold you every second
Say a million I love you's
That's what I'd do. With one more day with you
Chorus
Leave me wishing still for one more day
Leave me wishing still for one more day

This song was actually played before the sermon at my Granny's Funeral (Very Pretty and Calming in a sense)
"Bridge Over Troubled Water"~Simon & Garfunkel
When youre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
When youre down and out,
When youre on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

Depends who it's, mum = boyz to guys - "track for mamma". dad = luther vandross - "dance with my father", pal or a cherished one = the fray - "easy methods to keep a lifestyles" or anythin that reminds you of them. If I right here "time of my lifestyles" that garbage soiled dancin track I cry like a four 12 months historical as my Aunty used to sing it earlier than she passeda away.
