The ACT is a test that tests the things that you should have learned in high school. It is the test that is more for the people that don't do well in standardized tests. The questions are more directly stated, whereas the SAT questions are meant to test your logic and critical thinking so it tricks you more. The math on the ACT is suppose to be more difficult, although the SAT math does not require a higher level of math, it is more 'tricky', seeming more difficult.

I though teh ACTs were easier or could have been easier. I did better on the SAT because i live on the east and my school emphasizes the SATS (different parts of the country usually side with either test although the gap is now increasinly less). I did worse on the ACT because I didn't study so....

Although I think the ACTs are becoming more popular because the SATs was recently made longer and the average scores have gone down. Last october, collegeboard also messed up on a lot of scores so it recieved a lot of critisism for that.

I took both the SAT and ACT and I thought that the ACT was easier. There are differences between them, SATs, only include three subjects: math, critical reading and writing whereas the ACT has four sections: english, math, reading and science. It doesnt hurt to take both of them. It also depends on what colleges you plan to apply to. Most of the west coast colleges prefer the ACT while most of the east coast colleges prefer the SAT, but you should still check with the schools and see which ones they look at more critically. (Even though most schools still emphasize more on the SATs, they are starting to accept the ACTs more.)

I agree with most of the answers given depending on where you want to attend which test would be more beneficial.
But try to remember as exam time comes around It's just a test you will not die if your scores not the best. It's what you do with your life that maters. Ive been out of school 10 years and no one cares that I scored a 1520 on the SAT's. just a test no mater what happens its how you handle it.

nicely, as a general trend, colleges in the midwest seem greater on the ACT, and colleges on the East and west coasts seem greater on the SAT. yet in maximum places now, the SAT and ACT are approximately 50/50 in magnitude and the ACT is gaining greater choose with the aid of criticized shape of the SAT.

it really depends on which college you are going to. i went to a university and i had good grades in high school so i only took the SAT's. if my gpa was lower in highschool i would have had to take both the SAT's and ACT's. if you are planning on going to a U.C. branch, then its best that you take both exams. most U.C's look for that. good luck!
