I am required to make a contraption for my physics class that will prevent a large, grade A egg from breaking when dropped from one meter, three meters and one story.

Its dimesions cannot exceed 6 inches and it can only be made of toothpicks and adhesive.

I can make a parachute out of toothpicks and glue and that is not included in the 6 inches.

Please help this is due in like 3 days.

I tried a last minute sock - it didn't work. Now if you make a small toothpick box and slather it with liquid nail and fill it in around your egg with minced or blended toothpicks (it'll act lack packing foam/peanuts/mulch whatever) then you'll be in the running. Good Luck.

Oh and wet the toothpicks when making the box - that way you can weave them for added strength without breaking them. Wet toothpicks mince and blend easier too.

I done the same project for my physics class, the trick is to put few holes on the parachute so the force pushes the parachute upward.
Please Don't ask me how big holes should you put, even NASA doesn't know how big a hole do they need for their shuttle parachute. You got play with it.

I don't know about the contraption, but I suggest using a Brown egg, the shells are harder than the white eggs. :-) Best of luck!
