Psychiatry and Psychology are totally different. To be a Psychiatrist you have to go to medical school and get state, government licenses. TO be a Psychologist you have to get a Masters degree. And a Psychiatrist helps people beyond themselves, but actually into their minds chemistry. A psychologists listens and suggests. In Austrailia they prescibe medicine if psichiatrist only, licensed and without crimes.

Lots of psych college courses. Your average psychiatrist doesn't help people with their little day to day problems though. They deal with much bigger issues. If little day to day problems is what you want you need to have a different career. Some kind of counselor maybe.
