This is on a 1983 Cutlass Supreme, 3.8 L V6. I have had charging system checked, and everything is working just fine. Can someone with some knowledge please help me, I really would appreciate it as this is my only means of transportation.

This could be a loose, bad, or missing ground wire between the engine and body. If your ground wire is not doing it's job you are probably getting your ground circuit from the alternator to the battery through an unusual path such as an engine mount, shifter cable, or something and when you accelerate the engine shifts a bit on its mounts and you lose your ground path. On a 24 year old car it is likely that the original braided copper ground wire has rotted away.

Try to tighten the battery connection, or use some jell.

If the garage said replace battery, alternator. and belt,
go back and let them help you, after all you spent some good money doing those repairs. .....Good luck OK...................
