I dont know if bellydance is the only type of dance, but I really want to learn a lot of things about Indian culture. can someone please give me some dance steps, good music (artists names), and some common Hindi phrases if possible? thanks!

Bellydancing is more in Middle Eastern Arabic culture. Indian dance has different forms of dance. The main classical types are kathak, bharatnatyam, garba, etc. They are instrumental and are really good to learn. I have learned kathak, and I love it! Theres also a type called filmi based on Bollywood, the indian Hollywood which makes 10 times the number of movies than Hollywood per week or something. There are good classic movies like Devdas with classic songs like Dola re dola, or Modern Popular songs there are Dhoom, Crazy kiya re, Dus Bahane. Search them on www.raaga.com Watching Bollywood movies are fun since they relate more to American movies these days and that way you can learn hindi much faster. As for music, Shaan, Asha Bhosle, Himesh R, Sonu Nigam, etc are all pretty good singers.
This is a good phrase indian people will appreciate:
Mujshe (pronounced Muji) maaf kordo isiliye mere hindi bohod ahccha ney hai.
